Rediscovery

In the evenings, after the kids go to bed, I like to just sit and relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. And enjoy a little snack. Yes, I admit that it is usually a small bowl of ice cream (shhhh - don't tell the kids), but lately I've discovered something better!

I can remember getting Laughing Cow in little squares and thinking that I could eat 10 to really start as a snack. But these wedges with some wheat thins and a glass of Reisling and I am in relaxation heaven! Not sure that my hips will agree, but that's not what the after-kids-bedtime-snack is about!

When our older daughter was about 5, we were putting her to bed one night and she said, "So what food are you guys having tonight?" We innocently asked, "What?" And she replied, "Well, you always eat something after you put me to bed! What are you having tonight?" BUSTED! :)

This is the same daughter who told her Sunday school teacher when she was 4 that she never, ever got to eat popcorn because Daddy and Mommy always ate it at night after she was in bed. Well, this was partially true because I think popcorn is a choking hazard and was paranoid about a little one getting choked, and we had only preschoolers and babies. That Sunday school teacher made popcorn nearly every week as a snack for my poor, deprived child.
