Care-Giver?

This is why I usually leave detailed instructions when I leave the kids.

Oh, I'm kidding. Mike is great with the kids and actually, now that she is crawling, it is tempting!

ZooMontana

Yesterday we went to the zoo for some family time. It was a beautiful day, sunny and in the forties, and the big kids had the day off of school. So, finally by 1:30pm we were off. We walked around the petting zoo part and saw the chickens and peacocks (not good petting animals) and the goats and bunnies. Then we followed the path around to the wolves - doesn't every zoo have wolves??? then the paved path disappeared and we were in the mud. Not big huge mud puddles, but a little gooier than mommy likes. Over the river and through the woods (literally) to the tiger, red pandas, and sika deer, then back through the woods to the crow (yes there is a crow in a cage), porcupine, & big horn sheep, then over the river to the eagles and the highlight for the kids - the PLAYGROUND! Logged two miles for Mommy and Daddy's Shape Up Montana program!

This one looks like trouble for a reason!

Sweet sisters!

Brothers having fun!

"For every 100 pages my kids read, they may rent a family video of their choice."

Great book and highly recommended!

Kind of fun, but I guess I'm a party-pooper, bacause I tag no one. Sorry.

Scooter

Jeffrey has lots of nicknames: Jeffers, Scooter, Scooter-Bob, Scootie, Big-Boy, Mister. I'm sure if I kept tabs for a while there would be more, but today, destructo-boy is what comes to mind. However, he has such cute moments that it seems to make up for it! While he didn't even crawl at 9 months, he is now running and into everything. I can hardly believe that my "not-so-little" boy is going to be two in a little over a month. Oh, wait a minute, based on his attitude, maybe I can. I thought I would share some of his sweet moments today (to remind myself that duct-tape is not an option!).

Sweet Princess Jeffrey always must have the red shoes! And loves his Colts!

Computers Drive me Crazy! Part II

Okay, so while I was posting my comments yesterday, my husband was secretly out purchasing a new computer for me. I guess I won't have any reason to complain, except of course that now I have to figure out a new Office program, Adobe programs, oh and rearrange my computer desk since it is right now emptied onto my kitchen counter. On the bright side, I have a new computer, I was given the opportunity to clean my computer desk, and I found some phone numbers I had been looking for!

Computers Drive Me Crazy!

My computer is not all that old. I've had it for about eight years. It's not the fastest thing, but it gets the job done. Now my husband's computers (yes, computers) are newer and faster and he has little patience with mine. I admit my patience wanes a bit, but I'm usually doing four things at once, so I can ask my computer to do something, then go do a load of laundry, change a diaper and clean the kitchen, then come back to see that my computer is finally responding. My hubby is also quite knowledgeable about computers. I consider myself pretty computer literate, but not as much as he. When I ask him a computer question, it's a little difficult for him to answer - especially if the question is really simple. And I have learned not to ask him to show me how to do something on my computer (the whole patience thing) and when he shows me on his computer...well lets just say it doesn't look the same when I get back to my computer. So this video just explains all of that in much more humorous terms.

Now when I get a bit more computer literate, I'll figure how how you can view it right on my blog without having to actually go to YouTube's site.

One Cute Snow-Bunny

Sorry, had to add one more cutie-pie!

Quick Before the Snow is Gone!

The past few days 50 degree temperatures have melted just about all of our 10 inches of beautiful snow, leaving us with dirty mush! But yesterday we ran outside and took a few pictures to remember our big snow! The kids went sledding on the little hill in our park and even Jeffrey enjoyed it! The hill isn't even half the size of the one in our backyard in Indiana, so it's much easier to climb holding a baby and a sled! Morgan thought the snow was great even though she never actually touched it. The kids were sopping wet by the time we had played for 30 min, but we got some fun pictures. One similar to this one will be used for our mailer for Yellowstone Church. 25,000 postcards inviting people to our Grand Opening on March 11th. Please keep us in your prayers. As for this picture, the child on the left is one of ours, but we only claim him on odd numbered days!!!

Laundry Day

I have already done four loads of laundry today. This morning I thought if I did two I would be completely caught up and could stay on top of it. However, here I am at 4pm and I still have two loads left. I think it is multiplying. The sad fact is that I will give kids baths tonight and then have about three more loads to do. I am so grateful for wonderful my Maytag washer/dryer, but I'm really wishing for those front-loaders that take twice the amount of clothes!!! This is where my dreams meet my reality! Survivor has nothing on the Iverson household!

Crack Open Our Six-Pack

There are definitely very few dull moments around our household, and I thought I would show you why! From youngest to oldest:

Morgan is our sweetie pie! She has just learned to creep around (not yet a full crawl). Now she is getting four top teeth - not so much fun! Weighing in at 18 lbs, she's our light-weight!

This would be where you always find Jeffrey - in the kitchen begging for a "nak". He is always busy and not always in a good way. It is virtually impossible to Jeffrey-proof your house! He'll be two next month and we are beginning to feel the full effects of that. Weighing in at 36 lbs, he is our tank!!!

Meredith is our ham! She has recently perfected the "knock-knock/banana/orange" joke and is always proud of herself when someone laughs (or even if they don't!). She has just learned to spell her name and can count to 29. She is always singing and can make her bed and clean her room so well she would put a military man to shame! Who knows how much she weighs - she's over three so we stopped measuring!

Jarrett's name means "strong-spear" and he is strong! He started kindergarten this Fall and is now reading! That just amazes me every time he reads a book or a street sign. He loves his legos and is almost always building something - or playing Star Wars Legos video games! I'm pretty sure he weighs the same as Meredith, but it is really a guessing game at this point.

As you can see we finally have some snow! Judson is my driveway shoveller! It gets him building muscles for basketball! He is in second grade this year and doing a great job playing basketball. He is a great defender and can hit 3-pointers about 50% of the time!

As you can see, Mikalah is our cheerleader - this year. She says next year she wants to play basketball instead. She is now in fourth grade and will be getting an appliance in her mouth this next week to prepare her for braces. She is also in Honor Choir and Girl Scouts and I'm pretty sure she never stops talking!

And this is Mike. He is the cause of the six-pack! And while this is not a great picture, he had just come from the barber and had them color his hair Colts blue! (Thankfully, is washed out!)

So these are the people I hope to write often about. These are the people that make my life so interesting. Without them, my house would be clean and organized; my car would never smell of old french fries and chicken nuggets; my clothes would never have drool or spit-up on them; and I would be lonely!

Getting Started

Well, here it is. I am hoping that by starting this blog I will better document some of the hilarious things that happen in the Iverson household and share some fun memories. Often when something happens I share it with one or two people and then others (like my mom) don't hear about them. Plus, six weeks later I can't even remember them. While I don't have time for scrapbooking right now, I'm hoping that this will fill in some of those memories.

I'll start by saying that right now we are fighting off the stomach flu. Yesterday the three oldest kids went to school feeling just fine. At 10:45am school called to say that Judson was throwing up. Off to school I went to retrieve him. Then at noon they called again saying Mikalah was complaining of a stomach ache and looked very pale. Mike ran over and picked her up. Then at 1:45pm school called yet again to say that Jarrett was now throwing up. At this point all I could do was laugh and go and get him. They all stayed home today and it was nice to not run kids to and from school all day. The best part was that no one has thrown up since coming home from school! Now we just wait and hope that no one else gets it!
