Friendship

Last night's bible study topic was friendship. We talked about the differences between men & women, our need for friendships, and how Jesus is our ultimate friend. One of the things I found interesting was what people thought was their #1 need in a friendship. So, that's my question to you,

What characteristic do you think is the MOST important in a great friendship?

I don't have any formal reason for knowing, just really curiosity.

In other news, apparently my small group leader at Bible Study shared my testimony with the pastor's wife and she would like me to share it with the large group on the 20th. That's about 200 ladies. Am I nervous? yes. Am I excited? yes. Am I nervous? yes. oh, did I say that already??? I have always wanted to speak to groups of ladies, but it's still a little scary to actually going to do it. Now is the time I need my friends to pray! :)

I'll answer the other question after you answer this one . . . what's a "pastor's wide"?

I'm not sure if I can describe this particular characteristic in just one word, and being the wordy-comment-leaver that I am, I'll just have to explain myself. What I value most in a friendship is to feel comfortable being myself. Being a Christian is important as well, but I'm not sure if that is categorized under 'characteristic'. But for me I need to be able to feel free to share my struggles, and if the friend is a Christian then it makes it easier to share my struggles knowing that at some level they understand. I also need to be free to be my silly self, and I can't do that if I don't feel comfortable. :P

See....I'm wordy!

Hmmmm... it's really hard to narrow it down to just one thing! In the case of my closest friends, I guess the #1 is that they are believers. Not that I'm not friends with non-Christians, but I reserve my deepest "heart spots" for those that share my love for Jesus (part of that is due to the fact that I look to them for advice, and I'd like to think that I'm receiving godly wisdom).

Numbers 2 and 3 would be epathetic and a sense of humor (which kind of overlaps with what Deanne already said)

And what a great opportunity to share your testimony - I've marked the 20th as a particular "Pray for Jenn" day :)

Sheesh - I need to reread before posting. Number 2 is empathy :)

So I typed out a really wordy response that got deleted accidentally, but it all boiled down to I think trust is the most important quality in a friendship, and you know I'll be praying for you as you share your testimony with this group of ladies! I'm so excited for you and proud of you!!
